Bubble me Yummy!

Day of the week

Setting sun

Ah…tonight’s sky looks a little sad.

Quick Weekend update!

On Saturday, we went to the Westlife Concert! It was a blast! Westlife used to be my favourite boy band back in its Hey Day! and all those memories of singing their songs came screeching back to me on Saturday. The boys sang a mix of old and new songs with “ahem”, killer dance moves! All the songs I thought I had forgotten flew back to me, those lost lyrics, lost melodies. The crowd at the Vector Arena stadium were brimming with enthusiasm. Everyone sang along to their songs and we did many Mexican waves! The Westlife boys were just as good as they were 10 years ago when their band began. They had cool clothes changes and came back for an encore. We waved our hands up in the air and boogied to the classics. My throat is dead sore (even though it was already before the concert!) and I’m sure everyone had an amazing time! This was my first concert! Afterward, believe it or not, we went out for supper! Another first in NZ! We settled at Meadowlands to the only store left open and had some porridge and noodles. It bubble teawasn’t too fantastic but hey! another first! Twice in a night!

By Sunday (Mother’s Day), us Westlife Diehards were exhausted! For dinner we went to Uncle Tung’s in Meadowlands as well. After a pretty comme ci comme ca dinner, us kiddos craved bubble tea/pearl milk tea! (zhun zhe lye char) [?translation] haha. AND Colin told us there was a shop selling it around the corner! So we huddled off in the cold to find the shop lot and hip hip hooray! There it was in all its cool blue glory! EasyWay Tea ! We ordered some mouthwatering drinks, two bowls of flavoured ice shaving (soooo fine it melts in your mouth! Honestly I want one of those machines!) and this savoury taro-type dish. Everything was B-E-A-U-Ti-ful!

You gotta try it out next time you’re in Meadowlands!

To my Mama

Sunday

To my Mama,

Happy Mothers Day mum.

I love how you are Always there for me. You give the best, most useful advice of anyone I know. Your brain works like clockwork, ticking, thinking –looking out for us all the time. We all really appreciate you and all the work you do for us even if we don’t show it properly.

Your cooking is definitely the best and I love the *ahem* modesty (hehe) that comes with it… I know that you speak the absolute truth in all that you say and do. Nothing about you is fake or made up and thank you for that.

Mum

You are fun and funny- always pasting a bright smile on everyone’s faces. Your creativity really blows me away, from the new inventions in the kitchen you come up with, to the ingenious rugby country décor for your workplace last year.

I always enjoy emailing you from school at lunchtimes because I know you will always reply quickly and I can get advice from you anywhere, anytime.

Celebrating after getting the golf ball in at mini-golf!

Oh, and did I mention your fitness ability? Your badminton skills and willingness to run and try for every shuttle is testament to the strong determination in your life. That also matches your intense stubbornness –matched with mine of course, we make it a showdown of the Aries’ Rams! And I guess, you always win (but I don’t admit it of course! :) You never back down without a fight and you’re a strong woman.

jetski

I will always remember those quotes/phrases that you repeat, day in, day out. Those golden rules you ensure Bron & I always remember before leaving home. That figure of encouragement, courage, fun and support in my life. I will treasure those memories for as long as I live.

Sand

Mum, I love you with all my heart- not just the bottom of it! You’re my number one! Take a well earned break and pamper yourself for Mother’s Day!

Love you.

Westfield Albany -Temepara George!

div_wednesday

Note: This was written on Wednesday so if I wrote “yesterday”, you know I mean Tuesday…Confused? because I am.

Last week some time, Aunty Swee invited me to collect donations at Albany Westfield for Autism House New Zealand. I gladly accepted because this would be my first time seriously doing some charity! There was going to be a performance by Geoff Sewell who is a singer (no idea who he is) and I was even more excited when she told me we would meet Temepara George and Stefano Oliveri (from Dancing with the Stars 2008)!!! So after a 1/2 hour drive to Albany yesterday, we went to the foodcourt to get a bit of lunch and then walked infront of Pascoes where the performance was to take place! AND right infront of us were the celebrities themselves. Temepara & Stefano were just standing there and no one had noticed them because they were dressed so casually. I calmly pointed this out to Aunty Swee who went into a “Oh My God! Where is my pen??” Temepara and Stefano looked at us, smiling as always while Aunty brought out 2 pictures of them she had printed off in the morning. They asked to look at the photo and commented on how nice they looked. We told them we’d look for them later because we forgot our pen. And that was phase 1 of our brush with celebrities for the day!

After that excitement, we went to Columbus to look for the other collectors. Aunty Swee’s boss gave us these T-Shirts which were pretty cool and this is the back view of it!
We were handed a donation bucket each where we were to walk around
collecting the money. This painting was on display. It will be auctioned off at the Manukau Westfield on Friday where it’s expected to be sold for $10000!!!

Unfortunately, while we were collecting, we were too far back to
watch Geoff sing and Temepara & Stefano dance… but we got these photos with them!

Aunty Swee asked me if there was any way to edit Stefano and Temepara into the same picture. It looks pretty bad but hey, my digital editing skills aren’t THAT great yet!

This is Geoff Sewell. We caught him while he was packing up and ready to go home

Okay, after some time collecting money (believe me, it is not easy collecting money. It’s really hard when the people have their backs to you and it’s even harder to go up to a stranger asking them to give money to you. Sometimes when you ask someone, they’ll just respond “I gave some to the other collector” Just great.)

So, afterwards we went back to Columbus and got a frappe and took a drive back to Auckland.

Overall, it was a great experience and I’d do it again any day!

A trip down Memory Lane 2005

When I was flicking through some old pictures on my computer, I discovered a few pictures from Angie Jeh’s wedding trip to New Zealand! So beautiful! They went to One Tree Hill, Cornwall Park, Mission Bay, a wharf near Mission Bay and many other places I can’t remember. Bron & I decided to tag along for some of the pictures, so enjoy the amazing photography!

Thai Vegetable Carvings!

Note: This is a VERY belated entry on the Ellerslie Garden Show 2007.

It’s just a little snippet of my favourite exhibit of the day! It was the Thailand exhibit… these are the vegetable carvings presented on the stand. Each one took several hours to make…. the little orange flowers below take about 20 minutes each!

Wow!!

This pumpkin was seriously amazing… unfortunately the lady said they have to throw all the vegetables away when they start to rot… what a waste!

Megan’s future career = vegetable carver !
