Tuning Out

Watermelon

You know I love a picture when I use it for everything! A Mt Manganui camp trip picture… those sweet Watermelon days…

Math was a calming experience yesterday for the first time. The gentle humming song of Every rose has its thornplayed from the Construction site’s radio behind the school. The night before, I had had a late night. And right there in Math, I could feel my eyelids sinking heavily… Thoughts of our Whangamata Trip came streaming back into my mind and those relaxed, happy days of SingStarring this special song (esp. Sister singing it), walking down the one street Whangamata in the middle of the night in search of “BAM” and passing a Karaoke Bar where coincidentally they were also singing this song and walking down the middle of the road, not a care in the world… ahh… Math does have its finer points.

The WordPress Girl

I’ve just started a new WordPress site, but EVERYTHING in my blogger is exactly the same as the WordPress. I might be adding some “just for WordPress” posts in the future though. I just like the whole concept/design behind WordPress. Especially the smilies! They’re awesome! A downside would definitely be that I can’t change the design of the page (CSS) because you would have to pay to change it. So Blogger is there for my design purposes.

For the next few weeks or month or two, I will be putting all the pictures back into the posts (because I transferred them from Blogger) and they didn’t transfer properly. The Categories section will be revamped and hopefully we can get the site up and running properly soon!

Welcome to my WordPress!

The Driver’s Seat.

Sunday

IMG_3416

Caroline drew this for her “Characteristic” poster! It’s amazing!

Floating, suspended in mid air is what I feel like right now. No, not literally. I feel like at this point of the year, I’m just going with the flow, something I never used to do before 2008. It’s like this- usually I’m in the driver’s seat, controlled, controlling. Now I feel like, I’ve moved to the back seat and I’m just staring out of the window. There is no feeling, you just do what you have to and that’s it. I guess it’s a different place to stand and it’s rather relaxing in a way. Actually, I hope to move myself back to the driver’s seat pretty soon, the scenery’s too scenic for me in the back. And you know, Megan likes to be in control. ;)

Endless choices!

Saturday

Romantic Math:

Smart man + smart woman = romance
Smart man + dumb woman = affair
Dumb man + smart woman = marriage
Dumb man + dumb woman = pregnancy

morning sky

Lately, I’ve been really into taking pictures of the sky. Sorry for the Ambush!

You may have read this post and would know that this year I’m taking Duke of Ed . And the Duke of Ed is not just about tramping which I wrote about my experience, but it also includes Learning a New Skill, Physical Recreation and Service. So I have to decide on a new skill soon so I can get started. I checked out their website and found a MASSIVE list of options and under each option are specific requirements to be met. I am still contemplating on which new skill I should learn because of all the choices. Here is my list of possibilities so far:

  • Computer Games –this is awesome! You have to investigate different games and consoles!!
  • Cookery
  • Drawing
  • Donkey (handling etc.)
  • Magazine Production
  • Paper craft
  • Still Photography
  • Zoology
  • Writing
  • Confectioner’s Decoration (Cake decorating)
  • Conjuring and Magic

There are way more options that I would like to do, but I think this is my short-list. I have no idea how I am going to choose only one!

Update: Had a netball game this morning. You know how they say, it doesn’t matter if you win or lose-just try your best. But you know what? There’s a certain kind of satisfaction in winning ;)

Disguise

Day of the Week

Note: Yesterday, an ice-cream truck (Whippy) came round the neighbourhood after school with that cool tune (all ice cream trucks have) playing through the street! I was so excited because I hadn’t heard one in yonks and it reminded me of my not so-long ago childhood where the ice-cream truck frequented the streets. Unfortunately, I didn’t get out of the house quick enough to catch up with it and get me an ice cream! -Warning! Notebook Series entry-(Descriptive!)

Watch me as I sink, I am falling through a deep void of shadows and unthinkables. Show me your confidence, the aspirations you once dreamed of, those budding ideas that signified you. Show me the laughter that used to reign over the land, hysterical and comical. The energy that was everlasting- now drained to the last trickle. A heart filled with excitement and eagerness for every day born. How could I plunge and dive to such a point?, I couldn’t even recall my own name.

*     *    *

Today I can cause those smile lines to appear on my anxiety-free face once again. I can jump as high as the trees can reach the stars and I can chatter away continuously to any poor soul who stumbled by me. My heart is now free of all impurities, beating against the joys of life and as I dream, I can dream of the mysteries of tomorrow, the adventures of the next week, month and year. And how did I discover myself again, out of the sink hole I had once tripped into?

I stood up, followed the road signs and climbed out.

The road signs, they are always there and almost always are wearing a clever disguise.

New Photo Design!

Thursday

Lately, you may have noticed on this website, I have started to develop a new style for my photos & images. Now the borders are different and the editing is different. I like the whole new look thing, hopefully you do too! The image below is a family friend and was my first ever trial edit for the new design which I did a few weeks ago and I realise now it looks a bit off! What I edited- Added frame to picture, drew black outline, blurred out background, sharpened image on him, changed colour-refocused colour impact etc. The problems are very apparent now I’m looking back at it- like the new image has farrrrr too much blue in it which I should have changed. Blurring out the background has made him look way scarier (even though he was looking quite scary to begin with!) because the picture centres on him. The black outline doesn’t look too great. I’ve seen it on other sites and they pulled it off but I guess I just can’t! :) Well hey, There’s always a start! I guess it does look better though on the whole!

This was taken in Mt Manganui on our camping trip! Remember all those upcoming photo/image editors : Keep experimenting!

Happy editing!

Hakuna Matata

Day of the Week

Update::

Complete: Part 1 of my math exam today (paper 4-longer questions)! And it wasn’t as bad as I thought, so hopefully it’s a pass for me! Next math one (paper 2-short questions) is on Friday. More studying closer to the time…

Rainbow

[If you wanna see a rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.] I haven’t seen a rainbow in a while and this one I sighted a couple of weeks ago made me smile!

Yesterday when my aunt and uncle came over (like they do most days), I was at my study station in the lounge and they were in the family room chatting about the world’s problems. They began with Natural Disasters especially those that have occurred recently like the Myanmar disaster and China Earthquake this morning and the conversation lead on to talk of cancer, sickness and people’s mental strength. It was a lengthy discussion to which I intently eaves-dropped on (with a bit of guilt) until which my mum said, “Aiyah…Life’s too short to worry, so why worry?” and that automatically made my envision in my math-filled mind Tomone and Pumba of the Lion King singing Hakuna Matata. That song was perfect for that moment and it stuck in my mind for the rest of the evening.

“Hakuna matata, it means no worries”

So True. Stop worrying.

Give me a reason.

div_tuesday

Note: The peak of Study Season is coming up. I can sense the tinge of nerves surging through everyone. They grasp for their subject books, flicking through, scanning, writing, busy with a schedule as tightly packed as canned sardines.

Motion of crystal

Another picture from “Snap Happy” photo project- A crystal in motion! At the school library right now… outside seems really pleasant. It’s a clear sky today which means a cold night to come (my mum told me this many years ago and it’s always true) and the sun is streaming in one side of the room. I hope I don’t get much homework tonight because along with the studying I have to do for tomorrow’s exam, I have netball practice after school! This morning, I was flicking through a mate’s business studies folder and looked at her computer generated Buying Shares sheet which we completed a few months back. I attentively noted the different fonts on the page and quickly pointed this out to her. “Hey that Times New Roman font is different to this one, Isn’t it Calibri? Why did you use two different fonts on the page?” She and another friend burst out laughing. “Are you normal? How many people memorize the fonts on their computer?” they remarked with amazement and then I realized how much of a computer tech freak I am. I think I should stop going on the computer so much… So, especially in the following weeks to come, I won’t be blogging as often “IF” I can help it!(P.S. Yea it’s my excuse for not blogging because of school exams and studying!)
